Located on the border of Talisay and Bacolod City, The Ruins is one of the best ancestral homes in the Island of Negros Ocidental. The mansion was owned by Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson and his first wife, Maria Braga, a Portuguese from Macau whom he met during his vacations in Hongkong.The family intentionally burned the house during World War II so that Japanese soldiers would not be able use it as headquarters. Today, The Ruins is a must-see attraction in the Island of Negros. Weddings, birthdays, and various other events are usually held in the mansion. For a minimal fee of PHP60.00, one could take pictures around the mansion. Its owners, the Javellanas, are continually adding improvements in the place, even setting up a cafe which serves light drinks, snacks and foods.
